1945 - Founding

Robert W Cornwell formerly the Safety Engineer at Douglas Aircraft Co in Santa Monica, CA and Tulsa, OK he retired and started Accurate Fire Equipment Co. on June 1, 1945 out the garage of the Cornwell family home located on 13 acres at 7000 S. Lewis in Tulsa, OK  

Accurate Fire Equipment became a General Fire Detroit Corp. distributor.

Classified ad in paper looking for help @ $1 per hours with vehicle allowance from March 10, 1950

Robert built a shop and office on the end of the Cornwell family home.  

Robert drove a truck load of chemicals down and assisted the Sand Springs fire department in putting out a spectacular blaze.

Robert Cornwell passed away June 10, 1954. Inez stepped in full time to run the company all while raising a young family as a widow.

Old Accurate gas receipt back when $7.15 would fill of a service truck.

Inez was featured in the Tulsa Tribune October 8, 1970.

Accurate Fire Equipment outgrew their shop on Lewis and moved to their first standalone office/shop at Pine & Hwy 169 in Tulsa, OK.

When General closed their doors, Accurate Fire Equipment officially became an Amerex Fire distributor. Proudly selling fire extinguishers and equipment that is designed and manufactured in the USA.

Girl on the Go article. Inez was often featured in the paper due to her uniqueness of being a woman in the workforce and owning her own business.

Accurate Fire Equipment was incorporated.

Inez acquired A&A Fire Protection from Denny and Dick Askew.

With the acquisition of A&A Fire Protection, Accurate became an Ansul distributor which inturn paved the way for a second division, allowing Accurate to step into the kitchen hood and industrial fire suppression industry.

Once again Accurate outgrew their space and moved to what is their current location at 10528 E 12th St in Tulsa, OK.   

December 26, 2007 Inez Cornwell passed away, leaving the company to her daughter Betty Crawford and son Stuart Cornwell.

Added the Hydrotest Pit in the shop at current location. Accurate Fire is one of the only high pressure testing facilities in the area.

Accurate Fire Equipment launched the Fire Sprinkler Division with the idea of better serving their already vast customer base by providing an additional option in fire protection services. 

July 2020 the sprinkler division donated their time on a weekend to install a fire sprinkler system at the training facility for the Tahlequah Fire Department to train their firefighters on the different types of sprinkler systems.

Betty Crawford and Katie Hunter were invited to the Amerex Headquarters.

Service Technician found an Accurate Fire Service tag from 1956 while performing an inspection.
